Our Star of the Week goes to Josh! Well done Josh. 1

The first week back has been a busy week.

What have we been doing this week?

This week we have been busy learning all about ‘Goldilocks and the Three Bears” We have been acting out and role playing the story in our new role play area.

We have been thinking about our new topic ‘Once upon a time..’ We have thought about what we would like to find out this half term, the children have come up with some very interesting questions.

In maths we have been learning how to add three numbers together, we have been rolling the dice and adding the totals, we have been outside to add natural materials together and in our maths books we have been writing our number sentences.

We have been discussing lent this week, instead of giving up something we enjoy, we have decided to make a promise calendar. In this promise calendar the children have thought of something positive they can do each week leading up to Easter. Some children have even promised to tidy up more at home, and even do the cleaning.

We have been dancing in PE, growing from the beanstalk to the stalk, climbing the beanstalk and being the giant to the music.

In forest school we have been building the ‘Three Little Pigs’ houses.

What will we be doing next week?

We have a very exciting week next week, Pandemonium Theatre are coming in to perform ‘Tales from Wales’ to the children. We will be learning all about Saint David’s Day, why we celebrate Saint David’s day and how we celebrate. We will be listening to the story, sequencing the story and thinking about Wales.

We will be looking for Wales on the map and talking about Welsh traditions.

We will be making lovely leek soup to help us celebrate Saint David’s day.

In maths we will be learning how to estimate objects and check our answers.

In our art we will be sketching drawings of daffodils, using pastels. We will also be busy preparing a little surprise for Mother’s day.
