Welcome to Class 7
Today we performed a new chapter of ‘The Owl Who...’ by using shadow puppets as part of our science work on light.
There will be NO Forest Schools on Monday so could children please come in their uniform.
Today we had a very special visitor to talk to us about the Diwali celebrations, Mrs. Dey. She told us how they celebrate asa family, showed us pictures of their decorations, clothes they wear and Diva lamps. We then had a dance demonstration and some of the moves will be used in our class dance.
During Forest Schools today our theme was symmetry. We were looking at symmetry in nature and for man-made objects and we drew a symmetrical pattern with chalks. In the afternoon we explored Rangoli patterns.
In Forest Schools today we used different measuring equipment to measure a range of objects outside, we made pictures or sculptures using materials we foraged and finally we built shelters. The shelters were built after a long Atlantic crossing on board the Mimosa as one of the Welsh migrants who went to Patagonia.
Homework this week for language is to go on Spellodrome. the challenge is to get 4,000 points by Sunday. Good luck
In Forest Schools the children used i-pads to photograph the play equipment and walked around the school sketching it, then they drew aerial plans back in class. I was very impressed with their mapping skills.
In art we made 3D tortoises as we have read Esio Trot by Roald Dahl. We have also researched and written fact files about tortoises and poems.
Maths homework is to practise the 2 times tables as on Monday the children are having a test on them and they need to know them out of order to get the silver sticker on their charts.
Have a lovely weekend. Maybe go for a walk ready for Moel Famau on Wednesday 😄
The children have settled into the junior routines well and are becoming independent. They all carry out their ‘jobs’ enthusiastically. Well done to those who read 3 times this week 😁 Spellodrome has been reset and is available for use as is TT Rockstars, their passwords are in their logbooks. BBC Supermovers is also a fun way to learn the times tables. We are currently learning the 2s and the children need to know the multiplication facts in and out of order and the division facts too.
It is Forest Schools on Monday but the children can come in uniform as we will not be getting muddy this time.
Have a fun weekend 😄
Could all homework books please be covered in sticky back plastic or wrapping paper and labelled. Thank you.
Your homework tonight is more work on counting in 10s/100s.
