Forest School every other Wednesday
Reading Logs and books need to be in school every day.
Please support your child by listening to them read at home. In Class 6 it is encouraged that all children should read at least 3 times at home every week. This is rewarded by giving stars to the children on a chart. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

A fantastic trip back in history at Chirk castle. A much cooler day today as the children enjoyed exploring the grounds, dressing up, firing cannons, visiting the dungeon and looking around the castle itself.
Some great castles measured using centimetres.
Great fun in the water using our understanding of capacity.
Great fun today I we did our Safari walk around the school. Thank you everybody for your support.
Class 6 have been doing some great exploring with shapes. They have used their mathematical vocabulary to discuss the properties and names of all the shapes. They have made some fantastic shape castles too! Da iawn pawb 👍
A great start to our day at Plas Derw. Searching the woods to make minibeasts! Super team work Class 6
Super fraction work this week. We have been busy focusing on quarters.
Year 2 were very excited when they explored different instruments. They had to create sound effects for different minibeasts.

🕷 Wow ! We have been very 🐝 busy in Forest School engaging in a Bug Hunt. We also used our classification skills to sort the different 🐜 bugs we found.

Class 6 enjoy gardening club with Mrs Hughes. They have been busy planting this week.

In Forest School this week the children have been busy using their knowledge of electricity to make circuits using natural materials. They then discussed their circuit and were able to identify all the parts needed to make it work.
Class 6 enjoyed using their balancing skills today.

We have been busy, using our Electrical knowledge about circuits, making Critters for our investigation next week.
Class 6 enjoyed gardening club with Mrs Hughes. They read the instructions on the packets of seeds so they knew exactly how to plant them.🌷🌹🌺🌸
Our build a straw pylon competition has started in Class 6. We have some fantastic pylons already! Bendigedig pawb,!

💡At the moment we are playing a lot of multiplication games. It would help your child if you could practise counting up in 2s,5s and 10s with them, as quickly as they can.💡

Class 6 engaged in some birdwatching this week. They recorded all the birds they spotted and also found out all about the RSPB too!
Mr Bones visited Class 6 so we had fun researching the names of human bones on the iPads and labelling them with post it notes👏
We have been having fun building Lego power stations and houses. We have also been making circuits and making lights in our Lego houses too!
We have been using glitter to understand how we spread our digital footprint and how much information we can leave on different websites. Being internet safe is very IMPORTANT!
We have been using our Hwb passports to sign in and have been talking about why it is important to keep passwords safe and not share our personal details online.
Class 6 have been busy programming Beebot. They have been talking about quarter and half turns. We have also been looking at 90 degree angles too!
Class 6 have been writing their letters to Father Christmas today. We all went for a walk to post them off to Lapland. I am sure Father Christmas will be very impressed with their letter writing skills. 🌲
Well our cheeky little class elf ' Elvis' was hiding very well today. The boys looked all around the school and eventually found him up to no good in Mr Griffiths' class! I wonder where he will be hiding tomorrow?

Wow! I am so very, very impressed with all of Class 6. You were all absolutely fantastic rehearsing in the church today. You sang your hearts out and remembered all your lines so well.
I know that all the people that you have watching you tomorrow are going to be so proud of you.

Well done class 6! You solved the clue and helped find our cheeky class elf 'Elvis'. He had been dancing on the milk in our fridge. I wonder what he will get up to tonight whilst you are all asleep.
We have been investigating if the different sizes of balloons effect the distance the car will travel. Gwaith da pawb.🚗🏎🎈🎈

In Year 2 we have been busy making Guy Fawkes in Forest School. We used natural materials that we found to create him in our groups.
A huge thank- you for all your amazing efforts in class 6. The fantastic pyjamas that were worn and the amazing contribution by all the parents. The children had a fantastic day and have also been learning about why we have Children in Need this week too.

This week we have been learning about Turkey, we have been making delicious Turkish apple cakes…….yummy!
The Vets have been in to show us how they x-ray, listen to animals heart beats and bandage up poorly legs. The best thing was, we got to meet the vets amazing dog.
Chester Zoo have been to visit year 2, we have been talking about endangered animal's and their habitats. The children really enjoyed holding some of the animals (even a crocodile) and feeling what some of the animals fur feels like.
We have been measuring objects and animals in our maths.
Have a look at what fun we have in forest school......we enjoy taking our learning outside and getting messy!
