Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Class 4

Welcome to Class 4!

As it is the last week of term next week, your child will not be set homework this Friday 13th July as it will be due in on the last day of term. We will be giving out a new reading book on Thursday and this will be due in on Monday, we will not be giving out any new reading books on Monday as we need suitable time to collect and sort the books ready for next year. Can we ask you to return any school books to school on Monday 16th July.

Many Thanks for your support this year,

Miss Wade

A few reminders:

All PE kits need to be in school on a Monday and will be sent home on a Wednesday. Please can you ensure every item is named.

Homework is sent out on  Friday and needs to be put in the homework tray on Thursday, this is to ensure suitable time for it to be marked and the new homework set.

If you have not already, please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school. Especially in this hot weather.

During this hot weather please ensure your child has sun cream on before coming to school and they have a sun hat. They spend a lot of time outside during the day so this is important. Children can bring a bottle of sun cream to school and they can apply this to themselves at lunch/break times.

Please listen to your child read at least 3 times per week and please can you write in your child's reading diary after hearing them read. We are unable to change their book until you do.

Many Thanks!

WB 18th June 2018

Please note that reading books will be changed on Friday this week, due to our Chester Zoo trip on Thursday. Please do not send book bags into school on Thursday.

Miss Wade

Week beginning 12th March

This week are we are working on a Spellodrome assessment in Year 1. Please note that the Spellodrome word lists and games that your child is usually able to access from home WILL NOT work whilst the assessment is live. Your child should be able to access Spellodrome as normal from this Friday 16th March after school. Please note that due to the assessment, we do not expect your child to achieve their 500 points by Monday. New word lists will be set as normal on Monday 19th March.

Forest Schools

Forest School continue fornightly from Thursday 18th Janurary. Please remember to wear forest school clothes to school and bring wellies and spare clothes in a bag with your name on.

Swishing Event

Don’t forget to bring items into school, along with £2, on Monday 15th January in exchange for tokens to be used at our ‘Swishing’ event after school on Thursday.

Spellodrome and Dojo Points

A HUGE well done to all children for their hard work on Spellodrome since it was introduced earlier this year, and a big thank you to parents for your support too! We're really pleased to see so many children working hard on Spellodrome each week and achieving lots of points.

To reward hard work, children who achieve 1000+ Spellodrome points by Sunday night will be awarded 2 'dojos' in school on Monday.

Please note that in Year 1, we expect all children to achieve a minimum of 500 points (Monday-Sunday). Children who have not achieved 500 points on Spellodrome will lose 2 dojos.

A few reminders:

All PE kits need to be in school on a Monday and will be sent home on a Wednesday. Please can you ensure every item is named.

If you have not already, please ensure your child has a named water bottle in school.

Please can you write in your child's reading diary after hearing them read. We are unable to change their book until you do.

Many Thanks!

Information about Year 1

Spellodrome

It's great to see that all the children have now logged on using their username and password to have a go at learning their individual spelling list.

Every Monday, your child will be given a new list and their score will automatically return to 0.

Reminder - access through Google Chrome.

If you have any questions at all, please don’t hesitate to come and ask.
Thank you for your continued support!

Reading books

Reminder - Please ensure reading books/diaries are in school every day as we hear your child read at different points during the week.

Reading books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays. Please aim to read with your child every night if you can (even if it's just one or two pages). Feel free to read books from home (or comics/e-books) too. The more you read, the better!

Once your child has finished their book it would be great if you could ask them questions about it, this will help to develop their comprehension skills. Every time you hear you child read please can you make a note in their reading diary - Books will otherwise not be changed.

Reading reguarly helps your child to develop their confidence and love of reading, their phonic knowledge and it also supports their writing.

Homework

Your child has been given a Learning Log, which will be used throughout the year for homework. Please see the inside of the Learning Log front cover for how this will be used. Learning Logs will be sent home every Friday. Please return them to school by the following Thursday.

We would like the work to be that of your child. We would much rather see a few handwritten sentences that they have written themselves, rather than lots of printed text that they don't understand and/or can't read back. Any concerns please come in and see us.

PE

PE is on Monday and Wednesday.

Please send PE kits into school with your child every Monday morning. PE kits will stay in school until Wednesday and will be sent back home with your child at the end of the day.

Please make sure all PE bags and PE kit is clearly labelled with your child’s name. If your child has their ears pierced, please ensure they are removed or tapped up on PE days, otherwise they will be unable to take part.

One of the skills we continue to be working on is how to get ourselves dressed and undressed for PE. It would be wonderful if you could practise at home by encouraging your child to get themselves dressed for school in the morning and into their pajamas for bed. We've seen some fantastic folding of clothes so far!

Water bottles

It has been great that so many children have brought their water bottles into school. If your child hasn’t done already, please send them into school with a water bottle with their name clearly labelled. These will stay in school and will be filled up each morning.

Snack time

This year the children will have a 'continuous snack' time, this means that they can have their snack during any part of the morning when they would like it.

Unless your child has paid to have school fruit this half term, please send them into school each day with a piece of fruit to eat for their snack.

Forest Schools

Just a reminder that Year 1 have Forest Schools on Thursday 21st September, and every other Thursday from then on throughout the school year. Please make sure your child comes to school in suitable, warm clothing. They will need to bring a change of clothes (school uniform) in a bag with their name on.
