The Teddy Bears Picnic
This week Class 2 have been thinking of different things they would look to have as part of their teddy bears picnic. There have been some great choices such as chocolate chip sandwiches, mustard and marmalade. We made jam sandwiches, ham sandwiches, juice, cake and even some crisps. The teddies had an awesome time and loved being at the picnic. The names of teddies were brilliantly chosen by the children. The picnic was enjoyed by everyone.
A Great Big Thankyou to Class 2
I want to say a big thank you to all parents, grandparents and family members for allowing me to teach their children in Class 2. They have been absolutely inspiring, funny and a credit to you and the school. Thanks again for everything and I hope to see everyone soon. Thank you, Mr Beazer.
07.07.2017 Class 2 trip to Seaquarium, Rhyl
Today we went on a trip to Seaquarium in Rhyl, as part of our topic, ‘At the Seaside’. We saw lots of different sea creatures such as rays, sharks, terrapins and eels. We also found out, that the two fish (Nemo and Dorie) from ‘Finding Nemo’ are actually called Clown Fish and Blue Tan fish. Some of us were really brave and stroked a star fish and crab. We also watched a seal show. The seal was called Nelly. She did some amazing tricks. We really enjoyed our day.
Using 3D shapes to build ships
This week in Numberland, we have been learning about lots of different shapes, including 3D shapes. We know the names of some 3D shapes. These are cubes, cylinders, pyramids and spheres. We have used these shapes to build our own ships. Look at our amazing designs. We are the designers and builders of the future.
23.06.17 Class 2 Assembly – Being Wise
We performed our assembly today in front of Reception, Year 1 and Year 2. Our assembly was based on the story of ‘The Wise Man and The Foolish Man’ building their houses on rock and sand. A big well done to all of Class 2, who were very brave by saying their lines about being wise and retelling the story. Thank you very much to parents, grandparents and family members that helped Class 2 to learn their lines.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar
We have been listening to the story of ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’, by Eric Carle. We have also watched an animated version of this famous children’s book too. We have been using different coloured beads in our Maths lessons to make our own caterpillars. We have also made our own caterpillars and counted their legs in 2s.
We have been really busy in Class 2. We have seen how much the chicks have grown. We have been looking for and holding different minibeasts as part of forest school. Then we have used the Ipads to take pictures of them. They were very slimy and tickled. We made sure that we put them back carefully. Also we have been improving our measuring skills, by measuring our feet in our Maths lessons.
This week we have been able to watch how our new baby chicks have hatched from their eggs in the incubator and now chirping as baby chicks. They are really cute. In Class 2, we have named them as Blossom, Chirpy Chirp, Blaze, Sunshine, Lady and Baby. We have drawn some pictures of them too.

This week in Class 2 we have started our new topic, called 'In The Garden'. We have been doing some Maths work on symmetry, which meant we have painted symmetrical butterflies. Our butterflies are now on display.
We have been colouring Easter eggs with a difference this week. We have added up 2 different numbers to find an answer and then had to match them to a colour in order to complete the Easter egg.
This week we have been learning about Easter animals. We have found out that different animals are born at this time of year including lambs and birds. We have even found a birds' nest in reception. During forest school, we have been building birds' nests from twigs, grass and feathers, counting the items as we were going along.

Our class topic this term is the weather. We have been learning to ask and say what the weather is like each day. We know that, Sut mae'r tywydd heddiw? means What's the weather like today? We always start our answer with Mae hi'n, which means, it is, then the type of weather. We are really good at this.
Weather Forecasting Patterns
In our mathematical development lessons we have started to become really good weather forecasters, by making weather patterns based on different symbols. We have used symbols such as the sun, rain and cloudy.
We have found patterns outside in Forest School as part of lesson. These can be seen in different shapes such as triangles and squares. We found shaped patterns on the climbing frames (squares), climbing swings (triangles and rectangles) and chicken pen (squares).
Today, Class 2 dressed up for a very special day in Wales, St.David's Day. We have learnt about the history of St.David and his importance to Wales. We have dressed up in traditional Welsh clothing and rugby tops. The Welsh colours are red, white and green. We also watched an interactive musical production in the hall with lots of songs about the myths of Wales, including dragons.
In Science, all of us in class 1 and 2 have been investigating which liquid cleans a 2p coin the best. Last week, we made our own predictions to see if milk, ketchup or water would clean the 2p coin. This week we found out our results. It was really quite surprising. We found out that milk and ketchup were the best liquids.
Today (Wednesday 15th February) a football coach came to school to help Reception children learn new football skills. Ben (the coach) helped us learn toe taps how to pass the ball and how to tackle. We had great fun and at the end we had a match and it was a draw between the boys and girls. The final score was 1-1.
During forest school we have also continued recycling, which we learnt about last week. We remembered that plastic bottles go in grey bags and paper/cardboard goes in blue bags. Today, however we had to put our snack waste and milk bottles into a different bin for recycling. This was a blue metal bin. We are very good at recycling in Class 2.
In preparation for Valentines Day next week, in Class 2 we have been practicing how to make a Valentines Day card, by making a giant heart from twigs and leaves. Class 2 Assembly
Today (30/1/17), Class 2 did an amazing job performing their assembly about trusting and obeying to Reception Class 1, Year 1 and Year 2. Well done to everyone as they took on the roles of Abraham, Sarah, sheep, goats, donkeys and servants. They did absolutely fantastic and performed their parts superbly as they listened very carefully and spoke clearly to all of the other children in the hall. They learnt that it's important to trust and obey parents, grandparents, teachers, and other important people at all times. Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 teachers were very impressed with the performance. Well done Class 2.
This week in our forest school lesson we have been balancing on the hill on the school field. We have learnt that we can also balance inside when we do P.E. as well as outside. We really enjoyed our afternoon as we also got to practice writing numbers with leaves as our number activity. We also got to stand and wave at the cars, lorries and even tractors on the A55 from the bridge.
Class 2: Weighing
This week in class 2, we have been looking at weighing and balancing in lessons. We have been using scales and guessing the weights of different objects in our numeracy class. We have guessed the weight of different objects, such as bean bags, plastic bottles and cups. To check the weight of these items we have used teddies to balance them on the scales. We have been really good at guessing the weights and counting in one's to find how much each object weighs.
Happy New Year to all of Class 2 and a great 2017 ahead.
This week, Class 2 have been in forest school. As part of our forest school activity, we went for a walk around the local area of Ewloe Green. We were shown by Mr Manford and Mrs Lacey how important it is to cross the road safely as, Ewloe Green is on a busy main road. As part of lesson we had to balance on objects such as stones, rock and twigs. This was our main activity. We also got to splash in puddles and stroke the horses in the nearby field.
