We are all very pleased with our finished puppets.

Our Trip to Llandudno

On Thursday, 18th May we visited Llandudno. We have been learning about Llandudno in our topic lessons. We visited the Great Orme where we had a look around the Copper Mines and went on a nature walk with Gabe, one of the Orme's nature wardens.

First we had a look on the pier and found a very special chair, dedicated to Daniel's grandad.

Picture 1

The Tram

We went on the tram up to the The Copper Mines.

The Copper Mines

We were shown around the Copper Mines by Dan who is an archaeologist. He explained how the mines worked and told us about some of the artefacts they have found underground. We had to wear hard hats to go in the mines which were dark and narrow. Dan told us that children as young as 5 or 6 used to work down the mines!

The Nature Walk

After lunch we walked to the summit of the Great Orme with Gabe, the Nature Warden. He told us about the flowers, birds and animals that are found on there. We also looked for fossils in the quarry.

Down the Orme again!

We travelled on the tram again from the summit to the bottom!

There is no maths homework this week. Please continue to practise the 7 times table.

Llandudno Trip: 18.5.17

Tomorrow we are going on our trip to Llandudno. The children have been told to dress in comfortable clothes suitable for walking around the Copper Mine and the Great Orme. Please do not wear jeans ~ as they will be very uncomfortable if it rains and we get wet. Light canvas trousers, jogging bottoms, leggings would be fine along with a top and jumper/cardigan. They will also need a coat as it can get very cold on the Orme even if the sun is shining! Sturdy boots or trainers will be fine.

We have told the children to bring a small bag (ruck sack, over the shoulder) to carry their lunch in and to put any items they may buy from the shop. They can bring £5.00 to spend.

We politely request that the children do not bring nuts with them as we have a pupil in year 4 with a nut allergy. Thank you.

Please keep your fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow.smiley

A visit from our chicks!

This week we had some fluffy friends in our class! On Wednesday afternoon the chicks came to visit. We couldn't believe how big they have grown in just 3 weeks. Their feathers were so soft but they were quite noisy!

Visit from PC Ashton: 18.1.17

PC Ashton came into school today to talk to us about staying safe when we are on the Internet. First we talked about the devices we can use to get onto the Internet. This was followed by a short film about choosing safe, strong passwords. The children then had a look at a variety of passwords and had to decide whether they were strong or weak. PC Ashton gave the children a number of tips to help them choose strong passwords such as :-

1. Use a variety of capital and lower case letters.

2. Substitute some of the letters for numbers.

3. Choose a longer password rather than a very short one.

4. Perhaps use some Welsh words.

5. Change passwords regularly.

She also talked to the children about things they shouldn't do whilst using the Internet.

1. Never give out personal information such as dates of birth, telephone numbers or where they live.

2. Make sure the privacy settings are set for only family  and chosen friends to see.

3. Never agree to meet someone they have 'met' on social media or through online games.

The children were asked to do a little homework - to have a look at the settings on their games etc to ensure they are set for friends and family only.

Below are a few photographs of PC Ashton's visit.

Just a little reminder!

It is our class service on Friday, 20th January. Please make sure you learn your lines as well as the words to the song. Thank you! 😊

Forest School - 10.11.16
This week we explored the school grounds looking for things to measure as we have been learning about cm and mm in our maths lessons. First we had to estimate the length or width of the objects then measure them accurately. Although we managed to dodge the rain and it was quite cold, we still had loads of fun and our measuring skills weren't bad either! Here a few photographs to show you what we having been doing.

Our Trip To Llandudno  13.6.16

Today we visited the Great Orme in Llandudno. First we travelled to the half way station on the tram. It was great fun! Then we had a guided tour around the Ancient Copper Mine. We found out that during the Bronze Age small children as young as 5 were sent to work scraping and digging out the rock which contained copper! It is believed that 10 million axe heads were made from the copper mined there.

We were able to dodge the rain spots and eat our picnic outside! After lunch, Sally and Shaun, the nature reserve wardens, took us for a walk around the Great Orme. We were told about the flowers, plants and animals which are on the Great Orme. Finally, we hopped onto the tram once again and made our way back to the station.

We had a great day and were very lucky with the weather. We hope you enjoy our photographs! 😄😄

Today we had great fun using our new resource Maths of the Day! We played a variety of maths games which were energetic and fun!

Forest Schools and maths!

Our Susie Grindey Pictures

During our topic about Llandudno last half term we studied the works of Welsh artist Susie Grindey. She paints scenes from around Welsh towns and villages so we looked at all the pictures she has painted in Llandudno. We then had a go at painting in her style using aqua pencils. Finally we glued a little heart on our pictures which is something Susie does on her paintings! We hope you enjoy our artwork.😊

Queen Elizabeth's Birthday Celebrations

Today we celebrated the Queen's birthday. First we watched a fantastic bird display by Cheshire Falconry followed by a lovely 'street' party. Here are some of our photographs of the day.
