What an exciting week. School closed on Monday beacuse of snow, Tuesday's rehearsal cancelled and Wednesday's performance postponed. On Thursday it was Santa's grotto and today (Friday) Christmas jumper day. The children all look fantastic as you can see. We look forward to seeing you in church on Monday morning.
Today (5.12.17) we had a puppet show from Coverdale Puppets. The Nursery children came in to the hall with us too. Mr. Williams was sad because he had to go to a meeting and he missed all the fun. The dancing sheep were really good.
It's that time of the year again. We are rehearsing lines and songs for our Christmas performance and today our Christmas display has gone up. A huge thank you to Mrs. Jones for all her hard work and to Miss. Chowdhury for helping too. I am sure you will agree it looks fantastic.
In our role play area in Leterland we have a hospital. Today we had a visit from Sister Ann (a ward sister who also happens to be Miss. Roberts' mum). She brought in lots of things to show us and some children even got o try some of the things she brought.
TODAY (21.11.17) PLEASE SEE INSIDE YOUR CHILD'S READING LOG FOR THEIR PART AND WORDS IN OUR CHRISTMAS PRODUCTION.. THANK YOU
Today we had a Forest School session. The children put on their wellies and coats and we all went on to the field. We were threading leaves on to sticks and making pictures using some leaves and mud.
Today(17.11.17) is a very special day at school. It is Children In Need Day AND it is our turn to take assembly (The Story of The Creation). So we took assembly in our pyjamas. Haha. The children looked fantastic, they remembered their words and they sang really well. Da iawn Class 1. Mr.Williams is really pleased
We have been learning about Remembrance Day. Outside the children painted some poppies to make wreaths and inside we have been making medals. We think our display in class looks very nice. At the easel, children have been looking at a painting by Monet and painting their own version of a poppy field.
We have finished our Bonfire Night display. Our topic at the moment is Colour and this display is certainly colourful.
The children have been learning this rhyme:
Build a bonfire, build a bonfire,
Put the branches on the top.
Put the chestnuts in the middle
And listen for the POP!
Today two musicians came into school to talk about different instruments. They were very talented. Some of the children in Reception had a go on the instruments.
Some of the children were very brave this week. They had their flu immunisation. It wasn't an injection it was a spray. The school nurse said all the children were brave and well behaved. Well done Class 1. They each received a a certificate.
Another VERY busy week at school and can you believe it's the end of the half term already. This week we have been doing a science investigation to find out which material would be the best to make an umbrella. Have a great half term break. Enjoy the rest. Please keep practising your targets and please read a few times too.
Today we had a special assembly at school. It was our Harvest Festival. The children in Class 1 and Class 2 told the story of
The Little Red Hen and we sang a song called "Cauliflowers Fluffy and Cabbages Green..."
Thankyou very much to all the people who sent in food to share with people who are not as fortunate as us. DIOLCH.
This week in our P.E. session we used benches and some climbing equipment. We talked about how to use the apparatus safely and how to jump off and land safely. It was great fun.
This week (W/C 2/10/17) we had Forest School. We found natural items such as stones and twigs to make 2D shapes. We searched the field and used a tally chart to see how many triangles, circles, squares and rectangles we could see and we used cup cake cases to collect the number of items it said on the cup cake case. We were really lucky with the weather, although it was really cloudy at least it didn't rain.
This week is a special week in Reception. Last week we were learning how to say hello in lots of different languages. We talked to the children about the different countries where those languages are used and when we asked the children which country they would like to learn more about they said Spain. So, this week we are learning about Spain.
We have been looking at some paintings by Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso and we have been making some "sangria." The children have been trying to build a model of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona and been colouring some Spanish flags. We have been talking about and drawing the things we might need to take with us on a trip to Spain and the children have been making their own passport.
We went on a forest school walk. We talked about crossing the road safely, we looked at 2D shapes in the environment and we talked about dangers such as toadstools and red berries. There was also time to walk through some muddy puddles.
We are Class 1. We have been busy painting our portraits. We have started to learn some new songs and we are getting to know the routines in our new class. There are lots of new and exciting things in Reception and it's great fun playing on a big yard. We are loving our new reading books and have been learning about Kipper, Chip, Biff , Floppy and family. We are getting really good at recognising the letters of the alphabet and we are trying hard to recognise and order numbers to 10. Mr. Williams is really pleased with us.
