Always Aiming High – Anelu’n Uchel O Hyd

Autumn Term

Here we are holding our second assembly, updating the school about what we have been up to and introducing anti bullying week. Oliver our treasurer also presented prizes to the winners of our Children In Need fundraising competitions - we raised over £500!

As part of Parliament week, we invited MP Mr Mark Tami to school. We had worked with our class to compile a list of questions to ask him before feeding back to our classes. This was the same day as our fundraising for Children In Need - he must have been very surprised to meet us all in our pyjamas!

We met with Flintshire Chairman Mr Brian Lloyd and his wife. We were lucky enough to interview him about his role, developing our understanding of what a council does, and also got the opportunity to take a tour of the chambers. We really enjoyed talking to him, and also enjoyed the biscuits he gave us as a treat! We wrote thank you letters to tell him how much we had enjoyed ourselves.

Thank you letters to Mr and Mrs Lloyd

Here are our posters we created to advertise the school book fair. Some of the upper junior council members helped Mr Morrison to run the stall, being responsible for helping customers and handling money.

We planned and hosted a Macmillan coffee morning at the end of September. Rather than a traditional coffee morning, we did 'coffee to go' where the parents could have a cup of tea or coffee and biscuit to take away. We also hosted a bake sale for the pupils. We are very pleased to say that thanks to all your support we raised £548 - bendigedig! Da iawn pawb!

Here are some of our posters which were sent out to advertise our Macmillan coffee morning.

Here we are holding our first School Council assembly of the year. We told the pupils who we were and all about our plans for the upcoming year. We introduced our first challenge, which was to plan our 'Children's Choice week'. This allowed classes to collaborate with their teacher to have a say in what they learnt about and how.
